Note.. There seems to be an area somewhere between luck and magic that in my opinion must exist to ensure success. The area that I’m writing about is an area we will refer to as professionalism in which the professionals on this CD seem to spend a great deal of their time. Johnny O`Neal has always been a great inspiration to me, and one of the truly great piano players of our era. A wonderful vocalist in his own right O’Neal masterfully delivers melody, harmony and joy in equal abundance. Contrabass player Lonnie Jacobson once again exhibits his style and fine taste showing why he is in such demand as a session player as well as a group leader. Having Matthew Watson on drums for this musical venture was indeed my delight. His musicality and belief in me served to be a wonderful inspiration. |
